On Thursday 8 and Friday 9 September, KNOCA supported the EU PHOENIX research project, Maison Française d'Oxford, Paris-Lumières University, Paris 8 University and Nuffield College by hosting a conference entitled "Citizens' Assemblies for the Climate: a political or technocratic response to the ecological challenge?".

Invited academics, practitioners, policy officials and activists considered the implications of the recent wave of climate assemblies in Europe and beyond, asked whether the assemblies should be considered a single or diverse phenomenon, whether they are merely a fad, and whether they represent a meaningful political response to the ecological challenge.
