Are you interested in observing the Antalya Climate Assembly (in Turkey), an independent, NGO-led citizen and civil-society initiative focused on climate-related water challenges in Antalya’s central districts?
The Assembly will bring together 50 demographically representative residents, selected through sortition, to deliberate on its central remit: “In the face of the climate crisis, how should Antalya protect and share its water fairly?”
Through a structured learning, deliberation, and decision-making process, Assembly members will examine climate impacts, water resources, agriculture, tourism, urban water efficiency, and nature-based solutions. Their work will lead to a citizen-led Antalya Water Manifesto and a set of policy recommendations intended to help make Antalya’s water future more fair and resilient.
The Assembly is designed to connect local democratic deliberation with the global climate agenda ahead of COP31, beginning on 14 November 2026. The Antalya Water Manifesto will seek to bring the issue of water security in the Mediterranean Basin to the attention of international COP31 delegations.
The Assembly sessions are planned for:
• 26–27 September 2026 — Learning and agenda-setting
• 10–11 October 2026 — Deliberation and policy development
• 24 October 2026 — Final decisions, approval of the manifesto, and public announcement
